Family Support & Reintegration

At Bahay Tuluyan we believe that the best place for children is with their families. We also know that when families are under a lot of stress, caused by poverty, homelessness, unemployment and other issues, there is a high risk for children

Through our family support & reintegration program we aim to work with families that are at high risk to make sure they get the support that they need. This can include parenting support, establishment of social support systems, financial assistance, emergency shelter, counseling and referrals.

We also work to make sure that children and youth who have become disconnected from their families are supported to reintegrate into safe, supportive family environments.

From 2020 to 2022 Bahay Tuluyan helped 70 children reintegrate into their families.

Alternative Family Care

As much as we like to see children with their families, we also know that sometimes this is not the best or safest place for them.

Children or youth without safe family environments are provided with quality, rights-based alternative family care in one of our 12 homes for children.

Social workers provide case management assistance for children to help them reintegrate into their families or prepare for independent living. Effective, rights-based rehabilitation is provided for children and youth at risk or in contact/confict with the law.

Children and young people in our shelters benefit from a wide variety of programs aimed at developing their potential, building their resilience and helping them recover from trauma and abuse.

Quality, rights-based care

At Bahay Tuluyan we believe that every child deserves to have a family that cares for them.

We believe that institutional care, however good it is, cannot replace the love of a family and that children should only be in institutional care as a last resort and for the shortest possible time.

We work hard to make sure that children in our care get the best care and also that we get them home to their families, or alternative families, as soon as we can.
