Street Education & Support

Using a colorful, custom-built van, Bahay Tuluyan visits children living, working or spending much of their time on the street. These children, in various areas of Manila, participate in ‘Safe-Tiki Safety Education’ sessions delivered by our youth and adult facilitators. These sessions are child friendly and designed to share important information to enable children to stay as safe and healthy as possible.

Social workers assist children with case management, monitoring and support, including helping them with health, educational, legal, family or psycho-social needs.

Drop In Center

Every child needs someone safe to go. Children also need places to play, shower, eat and sleep.

Bahay Tuluyan’s Drop-In Center, located in Malate, Manila, is a safe place for children to take refuge from the street and to shower, rest, eat and play.

A variety of different activities for children, including assistance with school work, arts activities and free play are provided for children visiting the Drop In Center. Accommodation is also provided for children and families seeking emergency shelter.

For me, the Drop In Center is a safe haven for children where they can be themselves and discover their full potential

Bridge & Formal Education

We believe that education can change the world. We also see the many barriers that children face when trying to access education, even when it is supposed to be free.

Besides challenges children face in providing for books, pencils, contributions, school uniforms, food and transport, schools are not always equipped to cater to the many special needs of children who have survived trauma, abuse and neglect.

At Bahay Tuluyan we support children to get into school and stay there. We provide financial support for their educational needs as well as moral support - we liaise with schools, help with homework and monitor progress.

Where children are a long way behind in their schooling we assist them to help catch up or to enroll in alternatives such as the Alternative Learning System.
