Bahay Tuluyan believes in the inherent capabilities of children to improve the quality of their lives and to share the responsibility for the care, nurturing and education of other children. By giving children the skills to teach other children, the rights of the child to develop and to participate are promoted.
Our Youth Leadership & Facilitation program covers various sub-programs and activities that have as their foundation the child-to-child approach and children's participation. These programs include our Junior Educators Program, Junior Health Workers Program, Children's Councils and Youth Facilitators Training.
These programs aim to develop children's self confidence and self esteem, instill a sense of responsibility, develop leadership, communication and facilitation skills and provide children with knowledge, skills and attitude to be able to reach out to other children.
Our Junior Educators Program and use of the child-to-child approach is documented in our manual 'Children's Rights Education for Children by Children'.
