Bahay Tuluyan believes that all children have a right to be safe all the time and that no child should have to resort to the street as a place to live, work or escape violence.
The Mobile Unit program aims to improve the capacity of children living or working on the street to protect themselves from abuse or exploitation through the provisions of services, support and protection. Our Mobile Unit seeks to support children through difficult circumstances, addressing the factors that push and pull children onto the street in a rights-based and respectful way.
Using a brightly colored custom built van, the Mobile Unit team visits children in different areas around Manila where children are at high risk of abuse and exploitation. The team, including social workers and youth facilitators, provide alternative education, social assistance, first aid and referrals to children. Our child-rights based education program is led by youth facilitators - volunteers who use their skills to teach other children, child-to-child.
