All children have the right to build the capacity needed to live happy, healthy adult lives. Our Independent Living Skills Program(ILSP) empowers young people with the skills and experience to do this.
Our ILSP targets young people between 15 and 22 years old, giving them a variety of hands-on learning experiences to equip them to break out of the cycle of poverty and abuse and live independently.
We run a series of modules covering topics such as personality development, relationships & reproductive health, nutrition & wellbeing, career preparedness, entrepreneurial skills and social responsibility. Young people are also given opportunities to do on-the-job training as "SEYA" (Social Enterprise Youth Associates) in Makabata Guesthouse & Café and Makabata Nature Farms. SEYA graduates are assisted to transition into formal employment or education after graduation.
Bahay Tuluyan also sponsors young people to undertake tertiary education.
