Bahay Tuluyan Philippines Australia (BTPA) was established in 2004 by a group of friends and former volunteers of Bahay Tuluyan including Melissa Rudd, Cameron McLennan, Phoebe Hardefelt, Clare Scerri, and Belinda James. The organization is an incorporated association in Victoria, Australia.
BTPA is a children's rights organisation providing opportunities for Australians to make lasting change towards a socially just world and building the capacity of our partner organisation in the Philippines to work with children living in poverty. We do this through education, advocacy, volunteering and sustainable development programs.
KidsView is BTPA's major advocacy event of the year. Each year BTPA sponsor two youth children's rights advocates from Bahay Tuluyan in the Philippines to travel to Australia. While in Australia, they share their stories and experiences with school groups and other community members - providing a glimpse into the realities of life in a developing country. The young people are inspiring and active leaders in Bahay Tuluyan's programs, help other children in need and generously share their stories to help raise awareness of the plight of street children worldwide.
BTPA is run entirely by volunteers. It does not provide services to children.
