BTPA sources handmade goods from the Philippines to raise funds for Bahay Tuluyan. By selling goods from the Philippines, BTPA is encouraging fair trade and fair working conditions for Filipino families.
What is Recreate Philippines?
‘Recreate Philippines’ are goods created by Bahay Tuluyan youth in the Philippines. The participation of children is designed to be ‘child friendly’ and is limited to children over the age of fifteen.
The children’s participation is completely voluntary, working conditions are safe and ethical, appropriate compensation is provided and work does not interfere with children’s education. All production work is monitored to ensure that it is appropriate to the child’s age and development and that it will contribute to the advancement of the child’s skills. It is a great way to empower the youth to earn their own money and save for their future.
Where else do the products come from?
Whilst some goods are made by Bahay Tuluyan’s children, we also source products from a local women’s cooperative (Alay Kapwa) and a group of wood carvers in Paete, Laguna. By purchasing these goods you are giving twice: once when we buy it from the producers and a second time when we send our proceeds back to Bahay Tuluyan.
Fair trade products are great for Christmas and birthday presents. In the past, managers and school principals have purchased a small gift for each staff member as a Christmas gift. Our products are practical, durable, ethical and sustainable. Time to get shopping!
For Australian individuals, make your selections below or email Clare with your choices. If you plan to pick up the goods (Essendon, Victoria), it is best to email Clare to avoid shipping costs being included.
For Australian schools / businesses: If you are interested in selling goods as a fundraiser, please contact Clare. Unsold goods can simply be returned. Our products are particularly perfect for Mothers’ Day stalls.
Can I avoid or reduce shipping costs?
We want to keep costs low for you, but ensure that BTPA is not out of pocket.
Pick up is available from Essendon, Victoria. If you want to pick-up, please email / phone your order to Clare and pay with cash or via that bank account. Paying the shipping costs via PayPal and requesting a refund is cumbersome and difficult and may not be able to be accommodated by our volunteers. Contact Clare – firstname.lastname@example.org – to arrange a suitable time.
If you are ordering multiple products, the shipping costs will be reduced through economies of scale. We are a small, volunteer run organisation and don’t -yet – have the expertise to calculate this automatically. Please contact Clare to ask for a quote on shipping costs.
Delivery may be possible depending on your location.
