Values

  • We use a child-centered framework that respects, protects and fulfills rights. We encourage duty-bearers to be accountable for fulfilling rights and empower children to claim their rights.

  • We engage children in as many levels of decision-making as possible. We do this in ways that are child-friendly and power- shifting, enabling children to be active participants in matters that concern them.

  • We cultivate a warm and friendly atmosphere where everyone is welcome. We strive to make sure everyone feels that they belong and always have a family to come back to.

  • We strive to create an inclusive environment without discrimination of any kind based on race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status such as disability, age, marital and family status, sexual orientation and gender identity, health status, place of residence, economic or social situation. We speak out against discrimination and work proactively for substantive equality.

  • We make decisions taking into primary consideration what is best for each child, each time. We seek to tailor solutions to meet individual needs and circumstances.

  • We strive to create a society that is just and fair. We challenge structures and systems that are unfair.

  • We treat all people equally regardless of their gender expression, identity or sexual orientation. We seek to ensure equality in opportunities, responsibilities and treatment and to redress gender inequality.

  • We continuously look for ways to make our programs more responsive to emerging needs. We remain agile and willing to adjust the ways in which we work to ensure we are responding to the needs of our clients.

  • We act professionally, ethically and with integrity in everything we do. We are transparent and accountable to our stakeholders. We do not participate in or condone illegal activity including corruption or bribery.

  • We seek to ensure that our work will continue to grow and develop in positive ways. We protect and grow our tangible, financial and institutional assets to enable our work to continue. We respect and protect the natural environment.
